09 Oct ‘Double Take’ on Exhibit October 2015
You’re all invited to MiXX’s end of the season bash during Art Walk on October 1st. The MiXX team will be exhibiting works produced by photographers both near and far. The theme of this month’s show is “Double Take.” Photography has a unique ability to document reality, while simultaneously skewing our perception of an event. A photograph offers one perspective, that of the photographer. We will be presenting images that cause the viewer to do a double-take in order to gain a deeper understanding of the image they are observing. These images may excite you, perturb you, or provoke limitless questions; whatever your reaction may be, we encourage you to share it.
We will be featuring local photographers such as Alec Jacobson, Hannah Knudsen, Andrew McCloskey, and Americo Velez, along with New York-based photographer, Jordan Matters, who is known for his project, “The Dancers Among Us.” Our photo-centric exhibition does not stop there—we invite everyone to participate in the exhibition by bringing their own print to hang up on the wall. We will have an evolving art piece composed of images from anyone and everyone that wishes to stop in and contribute. Choose an image that you believe embodies the idea of a double-take. As all art should be, the theme is entirely subjective and up to personal interpretation so let your creativity take hold!
